Financial Analyst Intern

June - August 2019 • Eugene, OR

What I liked

I really enjoyed the hands-on experience of the internship. I was able to work on multiple different aspects of being a financial analyst rather than simply perfecting and understanding one thing, which was what I wanted out of the internship.

What I wish was different

I wish there was more structure to the internship. Although due to lack of structure I was able to find a variety of different tasks to work on, this might not be the right internship for someone who does not actively seek new tasks or learning opportunities.

Advice

Make sure to get to know the team well! Their connections are valuable and you can learn a lot from their journeys.

Customer Service Representative

April - August 2019 • Miami, FL

What I liked

Flexible schedule, located at fiu, modesto campus (easy for me to go to class after work), colleagues became close friends, great experience

What I wish was different

I cannot think of anything because everyone was welcoming and the work helped me learn more on how banks (specifically) Wells Fargo works.

Advice

For the training portion learn as much as you can and go at your speed, don't worry about if someone finishes before you. It's more likely that they just skipped ahead, so go at your pace and grab as much knowledge as you can.

Corporate Banking Intern

June - August 2018 • Charlotte, NC

What I liked

I enjoyed learning about all of the components of a bulge bracket bank and how they work together.

What I wish was different

I wish that expectations for the internship had been a little clearer towards the beginning. As sophomore interns, we were paid less and expected to produce the same output/go through the same training.

Advice

I would strive to ask for feedback on how to improve earlier on in the experience.

Business Banking Analyst Intern

June - August 2018 • Marietta, GA

What I liked

I liked that I felt apart of the team. The other intern and I were each given an office and our own laptop to take home. We had a project that we had to present to senior leadership via video conference at the end of the internship, which really helped me learn a lot about credit and finance. The presentation also helped me learn how to calm my nerves and deliver an excellent presentation. I went on a lot of client calls to many different high-end restaurants as well, such as McKendrick's, Davio's, and Stoney River.

What I wish was different

I wish that I was given more tasks and things to work on throughout the internship so that I could see how daily life would be. I worked on the project for a consistent 6 weeks, which felt like it dragged on and on. At one point, I got frustrated because that was all I would work on when I came in.

Advice

My piece of advice is when looking for a internship, really look at the responsibilities in the description because that will tell you what your daily duties will be each day. I used to be monetarily driven, however I realized that money is not everything in the beginning. You really need to find what you like to do and while doing an internship, if it is something you could see yourself doing as a career.

Consumer Lending Intern

June - August 2018 • Charlotte, NC

What I liked

I was able to work on a diverse set of projects that allowed me to gain exposure to many different areas of business. People at the bank were extremely willing to discuss their careers with me and teach me skills I was interested in learning. They had a 2 day conference for the Consumer Lending Interns in Des Moines, Iowa which allowed me to meet and talk with several leaders at the bank. I was also able to meet interns that were located in other offices and learn about their positions. My boss was always eager to help me make connections and answer all of my questions. We were able to spend 2 days doing community service in the local area. There were weekly web seminars to hear from interns in other programs, get advice from recruiters, and even interact with the CEO. Overall, the experience was great.

What I wish was different

Advice

Spend as much time as possible making connections.
