Bank Teller

May 2019 • Tampa, FL

What I liked

I like that I have been able to work in a financial environment, and I have learned a lot about the flow of money. Seeing as my major is finance, I think that starting off small in a commercial bank will help prepare me for whatever career I seek in the future.

What I wish was different

The training process felt strenuous, but I was also taking three summer classes at the same time, so I was a bit stressed. However, I liked the challenge and I feel like I embraced my hidden strengths.

Advice

Take your time with learning something unfamiliar. Be patient with yourself and your work. That's what leads to success.

Summer Financial Analyst

June - August 2018 • Minneapolis, MN

What I liked

I loved the friendly and collaborative atmosphere. I got to meet with and hear from many different people across lines of businesses and different groups to gain an understanding of the many opportunities that exist within the bank. The other interns were also very friendly and great people to work with. We had several different projects in our office that we got to work on, and it was great to collaborate with them or ask for their help and advice. We had a blast working and learning together the whole summer!

What I wish was different

We had a speaker series every week with interns from other groups in the bank, and we got to learn about many different groups. However, our group didn't have a chance to speak, so the other interns never learned exactly what it is that we do. That was a little disappointing, but made sense with how many groups there are within the bank.

Advice

It is a great time to ask questions about anything and everything. If you're curious about company culture, different groups, different lines of businesses, or how someone got into their role, you shouldn't be afraid to reach out to people and ask. Everyone I met loved talking to the interns and investing in making their time at the company a great experience!

Financial Analyst

June - August 2020 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

During Covid, the internship moved to virtual which allowed all of the MMB (Middle Market Banking) interns to group together for the speaker series that WF had set up. I got a chance to meet a lot of other students from all around the country and listen/speak to C-suite executives to include Charles Scharf.

What I wish was different

Understandably, we weren't allowed to go into the office during our internship due to Covid so I missed out on meeting my supervisor and other analyst face to face.

Advice

Work hard, have at least 5-10 questions prepared before every speaker event, and network as much as possible.

What I liked

This internship was amazing. The company is filled with very kind people. From communicating with other interns, we all had projects that contributed to production for Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo does an amazing job educating you on the technical responsibilities of your position in the team, along with helping you enhance soft skills.
