More people hired in certain areas. Sometimes I feel like we’re short staffed and can’t help customers to the best of our abilities.

What I liked

I liked that I was always busy at work, there was never a moment that I had to ask myself what I needed to do. I liked that I could help other people so they would feel more confident in their home projects. I liked my coworkers and my supervisors, they taught me so much.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have gained a bit more experience and had gotten my forklift operator’s license, I would have been able to help out much more if I did so.

Advice

This applies to any job: don’t stress out too much if you don’t know everything about your job, no one expects you to know everything. There are always resources that can help you, whether it be a supervisor, an online resource (we had an app that could give information and direction), or your coworker’s previous experiences.

Very friendly employees along with very flexible scheduling. Very applicable work environment.

I wish I was trained in other departments to obtain more knowledge about home appliances and different aspects about home improvement

Advice

I would share that working in a hardware and home improvement store is different than a regular retailer because it tests the ability to understand how to find different products as well as learning how different products relate and differ from each other when designing a house or building different household things.

Had been hired as a cashier before being moved to the customer service desk, did not want to move positions but was moved anyway

Advice

Don't work at the service desk, people are unnecessarily rude to associates and there is no pay increase for the more challenging position

It is hard to adapt to the construction industry if you are not familiar with it, but there are many friendly and helpful people here to get you through! it ha been awesome experience at the Meadville Home Depot!
